CURRENT STUDENTS

Rachel Hampton, MS student, is originally from Walnut Ridge, AR. She started pursuing her MS in January 2014. Rachel will be concentrating her studies on forensic entomology.

Bradley Rogers, MS student, is originally from Paragould, AR. Brad started his course work in January 2014 and has interests in Chagas disease and stored-product entomology.

Martine Bowombe Toko, MS student, is originally from Mbanga (Douala, Cameroon). Martine is studying the abundance and distribution of red flour beetles (Tribolium castaneum) at rice mills and on-farm rice storage facilities.

Brook Hale, MS student, is originally from Paragould, AR. Brook is studying the development of the red flour beetle on various rice fractions (rice hulls, rough rice, brown rice, white rice, rice flour etc.). She is also

LAB TECHNICIAN

Laura Starkus, MS Entomology (Kansas State University), originally from Durant, OK. Laura focuses her research on stored-product insect populations in rice mills.

FORMER STUDENTS

Jason Gaspar, MS Biological Science (2013), originally from Lockport, IL, studied trichomycete fungi, a group of organisms that form symbiotic associations with a number of arthropod species, including larval mosquitoes. His study focused on these associations with mosquito larvae in natural and artifical habitats. Knowledge of these symbiotic associations mayprovide new tools to be developed to help control mosquitoes. Co-advised with Dr. Marty Huss.

Amanda White, MS Biological Science (2010), originally from Marion, AR, studied the population dynamics of stored-product insects at a rice mill. Amanda examined how populations of stored-product inscets (in particular the Lesser grain borer), fluctuate over time and space.

Justin Fiene, MS Biological Science (2009). During his tenure at A-State, he studied the species composition, seasonal activites and aggregations of dung beetles (Scarabaeidae and Geotrupidae). His research was the focus of a "Dirty Jobs" episode on the Discovery Channel in fall 2009.
